Pictorial on Forgotten NY
The Forgotten NY site has been a source for us many times in the past year, as we go on it looking for great pictures of some older neighborhoods in NYC. This week, they have a new feature on the area around the Atlantic Yards, including some of the buildings that are scheduled to be razed. Enjoy it as much as we did.

Ah, garbage strewn streets with torn down fences, graffiti covered abandoned buildings and rusted iron stubs of long gone elevated trains....what a loss.
I'm doing an investigation to see if FCR was secretly behind this "forgotten ny" collage, since it seems to make the "blight" argument better than anything I've ever seen.
i am particularly intrigued by the rusted iron stubs of the elevated train tracks. perhaps nyc was in a fiscal crisis and couldn't afford to completely remove them?
escap, please take your vitriol to dailyheights. we are a family-oriented blog site here! just kidding, please keep the comments coming, good or bad.
Did you see the segment on the Jim Lehrer News Hour about the Atlantic Yards? It was on just now on PBS. Pretty interesting coverage, but curiously, Dan Goldstein was notably absent.
Don't tell me you've given up the fight Dan! Or were you just down in Boca Raton taking a break from it all?
The PBS spot was a rebroadcast of a story that aired in Nov.
It can be viewed here: http://www.pbs.org/newshour/bb/law/july-dec05/brooklyn_11-03.html
