High end Prospect Heights rental

According to this craigslist post, an owner is renting the upper duplex of a brownstone for $4500 a month. It has 3 bedrooms and is located at 131 Prospect Place (at Carlton).

In another listing, some deluded owner claims you can reach West 14th (do they mean West 14th in the West Village?) in 5 minutes from Bergen and Washington from their $3300, 3 bedroom rental.

New restaurant on Carlton

In the place of the former restaurant Sorrel, a new restaurant has sprouted up - 'James'

It's located at 605 Carlton Avenue at St. Marks Avenue.

The menu starts out with crispy sweet breads with rhubarb honey glaze and dandelion greens ($12), white and green asparagus salad with Bucheron and chive fondue ($8), and semolina-crusted zucchini blossoms stuffed with Peekytoe crab ($12). Main courses run the gamut from a juicy grass fed beef burger with Cotswald cheese on brioche with herb fries ($14), to herb crusted east coast halibut with spring vegetables and horseradish cream ($26), poached breast of chicken with roasted thigh, roasted treviso and lemon thyme jus ($20), fava bean ravioli with morels broth and ramps greens ($20), and pine nut and rosemary-crusted rack of lamb with summer bean stew ($22).

The AYE on two Carlton Ave townhouses

Two Carlton Avenue townhouses in Prospect Heights are currently on the market. One of them, at far right, has been roundly denigrated as an awful attempt at creating a modern-day brownstone. It was once listed by Aguayo & Huebener, then went to Corcoran. Along the way, the price dropped from $1.7MM to its' current $1.525MM. Will it sell, or will it succumb to the Atlantic Yards Effect, as the brownstoner troll likes to comment.

Another one (kitchen pictured at near right), a few houses further from the railyards, is at 532 Carlton Avenue. It is ostensibly newly-listed and is asking $1.575MM. In other times, this two-family would most likely have garnered an added premium, but the spector of the AYE may have tempered the asking price just a bit.
